BNET ID: DRTL
Shareware(Spawn) ID: DSHR

There are technically three versions of Diablo. There's the Shareware version, which only allows the warrior and the first two levels to be played, and can no longer connect to battle.net. "Trainers" work with it. There's also the Full Retail version, which can connect to battle.net, allows all classes to be played and is supported by Trainers. Then there's the Spawn version, which is the same as the Shareware however it can connect to battle.net and updates to 1.09 to have all the fixes. On Battle.net it will say that you are using the Shareware when you are running Spawn. Trainers do not support this version of Diablo. When battle.net says someone is using Diablo Shareware, they are using Diablo Spawn. In the Retail version of Diablo, a player with a blank icon means that they are a bot using Diablo. The reason it appears blank is because the bot using diablo isn't logged in with any "Class", and so the game doesn't know what to display.

Note about Diablo MAC demo: The MAC version of this demo that you can download from blizzard's site starts out as 1.08 and actually CAN connect to battle.net, unlike the PC one. Once you connect, your demo gets upgraded to 1.09(Just like the Diablo Spawn that you can install from the Diablo CD).

If you are using Diablo Spawn/Shareware and you encounter a blank icon user, it means their using a bot running Diablo Shareware, with abnormal stats,(like, using a Rogue which isn't normally available)
